Weeks 20-24

I decided it was time for an update. Things have been going well with this pregnancy and overall I’m feeling good!

I think my stomach has popped in the last couple of weeks and I’ve been feeling much larger lately. I’m still getting use to this new body of mine. 😉

Energy wise I am doing good, I have days were I hit points of extreme exhaustion then other day days where I have good amounts of energy. I have been trying to go to bed earlier which has been helping and I decided to cut my hours down at work, which has been extremely helpful and has been allowing me to get more rest.

I have been feeling lots of kicks lately and I’ve been loving it! Emmanuel has even gotten to feel her move and it is so special!

A couple weeks ago we had the opportunity to go to Cowboy Stadium to watch one of our friends from Tarleton State play in a football game. We had never been to the new stadium, so it was neat to get to see it all first hand. We made a weekend of it and enjoyed getting to spend time together as a couple. I truly am blessed with such an amazing husband!

I am squinty faced and pale but my man is cute!

Overall things with us are going well and we are thankful to the Lord for this sweet girl He’s given us! We can’t wait to meet her!

DTE – 2/6/15 !!

Today we received our DTE (Dossier to Ethiopia) date! This is the date we have been waiting on and working towards for months and we are so happy to finally be at this point!! This means that today all of the paperwork that we have been working on (our Dossier) will be sent to the Ethiopian government and we are now officially on the waiting list for a baby!!! While we know that we still have many more months and years ahead of us of waiting, we are so thankful to be here in this place! Now we will just wait and pray for our little one while they are in Ethiopia (most likely not even born yet). We thank the Lord for getting us this far and drawing our hearts to adopt! We can’t wait to meet our baby and officially make them a Jimenez!  Thank you Lord for this day!

Ps. 118:24
This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

She Reads Truth

I wanted to share a devotion that I have been doing lately. I stumbled upon it when I was reading JonesDesignCompany‘s blog and so I decided to check it out. It is called She Reads Truth and currently we are walking through the book of Nehemiah. Honestly, Nehemiah isn’t a book of the Bible that I have spent much time in, so it’s nice to dig a little deeper and see things in a new light. If you are looking to start a new Bible reading plan, you should join in with the She Reads Truth study. I’ve only done a few days so far, but they have been really good thus far! Here is a link to their site if you want to join in: www.shereadstruth.com . As far as I know they don’t have an app yet, but they are in the process of making one. I currently receive their Bible studies through email each day, or you can just go directly to their site.  I hope you enjoy it and the Lord uses it to speak truth to your heart!

Have a wonderful Saturday friends!

Life Lately

A lot has been happening around the Jimenez household! It seems that this time of year is always a little busy for us with the Holidays, Disciple Now, Community Activities, etc.. So I thought I’d give you a brief picture update of all that has been going on (pictures are more fun anyways).

To start off, my sister had her baby back in November. He is the cutest little guy and we are so blessed to have him in our family. Here he is along with his pretty mama.  He is so adorable and I can’t wait to see him again!
b a
During Christmas my whole family was able to get together and we all loved spending time with each other and our new nephew.
c 1
Here are both of my wonderful nephews together! Nephews are the best!
d
In February, we had our youth Disciple Now! Our speaker this year was former NFL Player and current youth pastor at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church , Daryl Jones. He did such a great job teaching the students the truth of the gospel! And as a bonus we got to meet his wife and baby! We were all so blessed to have them visit us.
e
Next I wanted to just say how awesome our youth group is! We have the best students and we have been loving getting to hang out with them!
f
In February, Emmanuel and I got to go to the High School Girls State Basketball Tournament in Austin along with my mom. It was a lot of fun and our girls did so good!
h
While we were in Austin we decided to stop at a food trailer park and got chicken cones from Mighty Cone. If you’ve never been you should definitely check it out, they are so good!
g
I know there is more I could post, but I will leave it at that. I will try to start being more regular with my posts since I know I’ve been slacking recently.
Also, just so you know there are a few more ideas, and dreams in the works over here that I’m sure I will fill you in at some point, but for now you can just imagine what they might be. 😉
Have a happy Tuesday!

It’s a Boy!

This past weekend I had the amazing pleasure of being a hostess for my sister’s baby shower. My older sister and I loved planning out all the details of the shower, and scouring pinterest for ideas (which there are tons)! It was a very full weekend and I loved every minute of it! I always love hanging out with my sisters and talking until the wee hours of the morning! Nothing is greater than sisters!

Here are a few pictures from the shower. I wish I would have gotten a better picture of the table once all the food was on it, but oh well, these will do. 🙂

The pretty cake was made by my sister . Not only was it pretty, but it tasted great and everyone was raving about how good it was!

This tasty/pretty fruit salad was made by one of the other hostesses!

And here’s all the hostesses with the mama to be.

hostessesDuring the shower we played lots of fun games. We began by  playing a game where facts were read about the mom and dad to be when they were baby’s and everyone had to guess whether the fact was about the mom or the dad. We also played a candy matching game where everyone had to match various candy with pregnancy references.

And finally we played a play dough game where everyone had to make a baby out of play dough and then the mom to be picked the winner. Here are a few “babies” that were made.  IMG_3852And here’s the winner! IMG_3857

Me and my beautiful sisters!

11The J. girls. I have such a wonderful family! 10And finally the pretty mama to be! Such a cute pregnant lady! IMG_3842

All in all the shower was a success and we all had a great time! I can’t wait to meet my new little nephew! Only a couple more weeks to go, and really he could be here any day now! 🙂

Happy Labor Day!

We have been enjoying our day off today and I hope you have been as well! Since we have time off we decided to bust out a game and have some fun together. Nothing better than a good old game of Scattergories!

Games are a great way to spend quality time together as a family and often will open doors to great conversation. What are your plans for today? Maybe it’s time for a family game night!

New Window Coverings

The majority of our house is covered with blinds (thankfully) but there were a couple windows that were left open. Since the windows without blinds were in one of the bedrooms, we decided to go ahead and cover them as well. I have never installed blinds before, but I figured I’d give it a try.
This is one of the doors that was needing a blind. Summers can get quite hot, so adding a little shade was a necessity.
13
To make the process easier I first marked with a pen where I should drill.
14
I then drilled in the correct spot and screwed the blind holders in.
15
Then I popped the blind in.
17
It was super easy and we are thankful to now have the option of privacy and shade.
Since the blinds ended up being so easy to install, I decided to also tackle the curtains in the living room. I’ve been wanting to get them up for a while now but we had misplaced the curtain rod brackets that go with our curtain rod. I priced some new brackets and found that it would be the same price to get a whole new curtain rod as it was to just replace the brackets. So, we opted for a new curtain rod.
I’ve seen a few methods of measuring and hanging curtain rods which probably are great, but I decided to just use painters tape and a ruler to measure.
18
Once I had everything taped up and measured, I made my holes using the drill. I then popped the screw anchors in, screwed the screws in to attach the brackets, and added the rod.
19 20
Wa-lah! We now have curtains! It’s amazing how something as simple as curtains can make our rented house feel more like our home.
Have any of you added any window coverings lately? Feel free to share! 🙂

Happy Anniversary Sweet Love!

Four years ago today I married my best friend! He is the love of my life and I am so honored to be his wife! Emmanuel is such an incredibly godly man, who loves the Lord with all his heart and is a great spiritual leader! He loves people genuinely and would do anything to help someone in need. He is incredibly funny, and continually makes me laugh! He is spontaneous, athletic, hard working, creative, easy going, joyful, and kind. To top it all off, he is incredibly handsome and loves me so well!   He truly is the perfect guy for me and I am so blessed to call him mine! I love you Emmanuel!!

Our Weekend Project

We love the house we are renting right now! It has tons of storage and is just the right size for the two of us! The kitchen is amazing (the best one I’ve had yet), however, there isn’t a true eating area. We do have an amazing island but you have to have bar stool height chairs in order to eat around it. We thankfully have 4 chairs, but if more than 2 people come over there is awkward eating on low chairs. Which is not so great or easy ( i know because I’ve done it). :/
We threw around a few ideas for how we could solve this issue for when we wanted larger groups to come over and decided a picnic table in the backyard would be best. We actually have an awesome backyard! Whoever did the layout for the backyard put a lot of thought into it and it is quite nice! We often spend evenings sitting on the swing in the back enjoying the weather and our time together.
I started to look around for picnic tables and soon realized that they are not cheap! They are actually quite a bit more than we were wanting to spend. I then found a picnic table frame on amazon that was closer to our price range but still wasn’t sure about it. A few days later we received an amazon gift card, so we decided to go ahead with the table!
The frame came quicker than expected and we were super excited to get it assembled! With this particular frame we could build a 4 foot, 6 foot or 8 foot long table. We opted for the 8 foot table because we figured if we were going to have to do the same amount of work, we might as well make it count and that way we could have more people over in the future!
1
We headed to Lowe’s and purchased 5 eight foot long 2×10’s and one 2×4.

We then started the assembly. After lining up the boards how we wanted them, we began drilling holes on each end of the boards, attaching the metal braces, and nailing/gluing the center support beam in the middle.

If you look closely you can see the swing  in the background that we often spend our evenings on together.

We then attached the legs and made a few more holes so that we could attach additional support rods with bolts.
After the legs were attached we flipped the table over to attach the seats. I have to say, we have one sturdy picnic table- it is SO heavy! We then drilled holes on the ends of each seat board and attached them to the main frame.

Finally we were done! We are quite thrilled with the end result and are very ready to start filling it up with people! 🙂
